Museum of the African Diaspora
685 Mission Street (at Third)
San Francisco, California 94105

Spent the afternoon at MoAD today courtesy of Bank of America. It’s a small (compared to others in the city) space but expertly curated. I spent most of the time actually watching a PBS documentary on Zora Neale Hurston writer of Their Eyes Were Watching God. What an interesting and pioneering life. Also spent some alone time inside the dark and haunting Slave Narratives room. On the top floor is an exhibit of photography on rituals and ceremonies shared across the African diaspora from the Africa, to Brazil, Haiti, United States and across the globe. The MoAD is small but not insignificant. It is important.
